Learn about virology and immunology via virtual reality immersion!
This app is part of a pilot program to determine how VR may be exploited to improve public engagement and awareness of systems biology. Throughout the story and a series of minigames, players can:
1. See how viruses invade host cells
2. Learn basic biological mechanisms associated with virus infection (e.g. gene transcription)
3. Experience how human cells detect viruses by the DNA sensing pathway (aka the cGAS pathway)
This is pilot software developed by students under the direction of the Shoemaker Immunosystems Lab at the University of Pittsburgh (website: shoemakerlab.pitt.edu). The app was created using Unity 5.6.0.
